The Clearwater Gallery in Sisters, Oregon, has invited local artists to show painting done in a limited palette. The challenge is for each artists is to produce two paintings using only four colors and white. I am excited and honored to have the chance to display my work in the gallery.

I chose a still life of a trio of pears, using soft pastels. Next, I did a rough sketch and three quick color studies. I decided on my four colors, Prussian blue, Indian red, bright raw sienna, and pale yellow.

Since pastels do not readily lend themselves to mixing, I made sure that each color had a different darkness, so I could get a full range of value and contrast. I am pleased with the results so far.

The Clearwater Gallery will show the paintings during February’s last Friday Art Walk on Feb 22nd. Please come and see my work along with the many other talented local artists.
